The Kuusijärvi Smoke Saunas Open to the public today

Two public smoke saunas and a dressing room and shower building by lake Kuusijärvi in Vantaa were completed in summer 2025 and are now finally opening to the public!

Commissioned by the City of Vantaa, the new smoke saunas and service buildings at the Kuusijärvi recreational area offer visitors a chance to experience the Finnish smoke sauna tradition interpreted through contemporary architecture. Ambitious attention has been given to architectural quality, allowing visitors to enjoy sauna culture in log-built structures set within a beautiful natural environment. The atmosphere of the place is intended to convey peace and presence — something that lingers in memory.

The architecture has been designed by Mer Architects and Talli Architecture and Design Office, together with Loci Landscape Architects responsible for the landscape design.
