Talk MER – A lecture about natural ventilation!

Come listen or check out the streaming/video link of Torkkel Andersson’s lecture on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at 4 PM at the House of Sciences.

We could be more open to the wisdom contained within the buildings themselves. Can a building itself function as a ventilation system, a thermal energy storage for heating and cooling, as well as a structural system, instead of fitting these technologies onto the architecture afterwards?

In his lecture “GRAVITATIONAL AND HYBRID VENTILATION TODAY,” Torkel Andersson explains how we can use the wisdom inherent in the principles of gravitational ventilation in a modern context, producing indoor climates that are healthy, sustainable, quiet, and energy efficient.

Torkel Andersson is a Swedish HVAC engineer who has specialized in gravitational and hybrid ventilation throughout his long career. He implemented the first gravitational ventilation school projects already in the 1990s and has written several articles on the topic.

The lecture will be introduced by architect Kimmo Lylykangas, who will also present a new design guideline for gravitational ventilation.

The event is open to everyone interested, professionals and the general public alike. The event is free of charge.

The event is organized by Rakennusperintö-SAFA and is part of the Helsinki Design Week program.

The video link is tentatively scheduled from 4 PM to 7:30 PM.
